NORTHWEST ARKANSAS HVAC SYSTEM LIFE SPAN
The general lifespan of an HVAC system on average depends on several factors, the quality of the equipment, if it receives regular maintenance, and the weathering your geographical area where the heating and air ventilation system operates. Typically, an HVAC system that has regular tune-ups or maintenance (once in the fall and once in the spring) it can last between 10 to 12 years.
Factors that Affect The Lifespan of your hvac system
- Type of Equipment: The quality and brand of the HVAC system can greatly affect the lifespan. Higher-end systems tend to have better quality components and an easier time running efficiently, and advanced features that contribute to the HVAC system remaining comfortable for longer. Less expensive or lower-end systems may not last as long and may require more frequent repairs or replacements.
- Maintenance: Regular maintenance or what we call club memberships, play a vital role in extending the life of an HVAC system. Regular maintenance on the HVAC system includes cleaning the coil, checking and lubricating moving parts, checking the charge to the refrigerant, inspecting electrical connections, and overall system performance evaluations. Not having maintenance performed can lead to more wear and tear, less efficient, and early system failure.
- Environmental: The environment the system operates in can affect the lifespan of the system greatly. Factors like climate, extreme hot and cold temperatures, levels of humidity, and quality of air all have a large affect the system’s components.
It’s important to note that we live in Northwest Arkansas. We have extreme temperature changes in our area. While a 10 year system may be operating it may not be operating efficiently. It is also important to note that the maintenance and upkeep of an older system is often more draining to your bank account than looking at options for system replacement.
Some HVAC systems may fail before the average lifespan due to factors such as heavy usage, improper installation, or lack of maintenance. However, with proper care, HVAC systems can exceed the average lifespan when they are installed and maintained well.
We encourage all customers to prioritize the longevity and lifespan of their HVAC systems with regular maintenance as well as optimizing how they are currently running.
